Google Maps extension

Yes, right. It was only an example for you to feel what I mean. I think it would be a nice service to show visitors to show them some interesting impressions. More like "only" pictures. Perhaps you/we can show e.g. the footpath from each hotel to the park and so on. Anywhere in my head I have the vison of an PDA with all datas to show parkvisitors details of the park. Visitors can rent this PDA and would have a personal guided tour. But that is not important to this wiki. Or not?

I will test some of the Google Maps addons for MediaWiki (there are about 4 or 5!) and I will install the best one (user friendly and sufficient options). I agree that it would be nice to show on a map where a certain attraction/restaurant etc. is in the park en how the parade route goes etc.

The PDA idea is great of course and I would love to see that work but its not high on the priority list right now. But keep on dreaming/brain storming and don't forget any of the ideas!!! There will come a time when we need new functions to implement or we will get bored :P (or, at least, I hope so ;) )

Google Maps practical

Hmmmmh, so ganz perfekt isses noch nicht. Unten in den Maps stehen die Hinweise auf Copyright und Nutzungsbedingungen, die leider ziemlich breit werden können und weit außerhalb der Karte noch den Text der Seite überdecken (wenn die Karte am rechten Rand platziert wird).

Workaround: möglichst nicht die "Hybrid"-Ansicht verwenden (das ergibt die längste Textzeile), sondern Karten- oder Satellit-Ansicht.

GrandiJoos: are you working on this? Maybe the Google API can be tweaked so that the copyright and TOS notices follow the width of the Map itself! -- Oliver 14:19, 22. Dez. 2007 (CET)

Hi Oliver. I can not alter the copyright and TOS notices. I have changed the default settings to display the satellite view, simple controls, no selector and a width and height of 300 (like on Bahnhof). I do not think I can do any more and, at least for now, this is the best solution to handle the display of locations (image maps are not user friendly). --GrandiJoos 15:06, 22. Dez. 2007 (CET)
